Mrs McIntyre
GEOGRAPHY LEAD
Hi, I’m Mrs McIntyre and I am the proud leader of our Geography curriculum here at Heron Cross. I am passionate about nurturing children’s natural curiosity and helping them develop a deep understanding of the world around them, from our youngest learners in EYFS to our Year 6 pupils. I have worked closely with our leadership team to develop a carefully sequenced Geography curriculum that provides engaging learning experiences and inspires pupils to explore, question, and appreciate the incredible diversity of our planet. Through our spiral approach, children revisit and deepen their understanding with every topic taught.
My love for Geography comes from my own curiosity about the world and my enjoyment of travelling. Experiencing different cultures, discovering new ways of life, and trying foods from around the globe has strengthened my respect for the people and places that make our planet so unique. I see Geography not just as a subject, but as a gateway to understanding the wider world.
I am particularly fascinated by the ever-changing impact humans have on the Earth. From climate change to urban development, it is essential that children understand how their choices can influence the environment. We encourage pupils to notice the changes happening around them and think about how they can make positive, responsible decisions.
Leading Geography allows me to share my enthusiasm for global learning while helping children become informed, compassionate, and environmentally aware citizens. By fostering curiosity and encouraging open-minded exploration, I hope to inspire a lifelong love of learning and a commitment to making our world a better place.
