ART LEAD

I am Miss Kamarauskas and I proudly lead Art and Design at Heron Cross Primary School, overseeing visual arts and design across the whole curriculum. I am passionate about giving children the essential skills they need to become confident, imaginative and expressive artists.

My love for art began when I was a toddler, experimenting with colour, texture and materials. Colourful projects, drawing in the playground and exploring museums opened up new ways of seeing the world, helped me understand different cultures and sparked my creativity. I was entered into a wide range of art competitions as a child which caused me to follow a career in the design industry, working as a Freelance Fashion Textile Designer before changing careers and becoming the teacher that I am today. Those early experiences shaped who I am today, and they continue to inspire my work. I want every child to feel that same sense of wonder, possibility and empowerment through visual expression.

At Heron Cross, I believe art is at the heart of learning. In line with the National Curriculum, my aim is for every child to develop visual literacy, experiment with a range of media and techniques, appreciate the cultural and historical context of art, and create work that communicates ideas with confidence. I work closely with teachers to ensure our art programme is engaging, ambitious and inclusive, enabling all pupils to succeed.

From nurturing early drawing and colour exploration through to supporting older pupils as they experiment with mixed media and collaborative projects, I am committed to helping children build strong foundations for lifelong creativity. Through inspiring lessons, high‑quality resources and a culture that celebrates curiosity and self‑expression, I aim to empower each pupil to discover and develop their own artistic voice.

COVER ART LEAD

I am Miss Tideswell, and I am proud to lead Art at Heron Cross Primary School, nurturing creativity, imagination and expressive confidence across our whole curriculum. I am passionate about giving children the artistic knowledge, freedom and courage they need to become thoughtful, confident and inventive young creators.

At Heron Cross, I believe Art lies at the heart of a rich, modern education. In line with the National Curriculum, my goal is for every child to build a strong foundation in artistic techniques, to explore materials with curiosity and courage, and to understand how art communicates stories, emotions and ideas. I work closely with teachers to ensure our Art curriculum is inspiring, inclusive and ambitious—one that encourages every child to discover their creative voice.

From early mark-making and playful experimentation to guiding older pupils through more refined drawing, painting, sculpture and digital art, I am committed to helping children grow as confident and expressive artists. Through purposeful teaching, high-quality resources and an environment where imagination is celebrated, I strive to make Art a subject where every child can shine—where creativity is not just taught, but lived and loved.
