DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY LEAD

I am Miss Kamarauskas and I proudly lead Design and Technology at Heron Cross Primary School, overseeing practical and creative learning across the whole curriculum. I am passionate about giving children the essential skills they need to become confident makers, problem‑solvers and innovative thinkers.

My love for design and technology began when I was in primary school. Building simple structures with cardboard, tinkering with a set of basic tools and seeing an idea turn into a tangible object opened up a world of possibility. Those early experiences shaped who I am today, and they continue to inspire my work. I want every child to feel that same sense of wonder, purpose and empowerment through making.

At Heron Cross, I believe Design and Technology is at the heart of learning. In line with the National Curriculum, my aim is for every child to develop an understanding of materials, tools and safe working practices; to follow the design cycle from research and planning through to prototyping, testing and evaluation; and to use physical technologies to create functional, sustainable solutions. I work closely with teachers to ensure our programme is engaging, ambitious and inclusive, enabling all pupils to succeed.

From nurturing early exploration of colour, texture and simple constructions in the early years, to supporting older pupils as they design and make functional products, I am committed to helping children build strong foundations for lifelong creativity and critical thinking.

Through inspiring projects, high‑quality resources and a culture that celebrates curiosity and making, I aim to empower each pupil to become a confident creator and develop their own design voice.

DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY COVER LEAD

I am Mrs Baggaley, and as the Subject Leader for Design and Technology (D&T), I am passionate about the incredible opportunities this subject offers for all children to flourish. D&T is not just about creating; it’s about problem-solving, critical thinking, and unleashing creativity. I love how it encourages our students to explore their ideas and bring them to life.

What excites me most is witnessing the diverse talents of our students shine through. Every child has a unique perspective, and D&T provides a platform for them to express themselves. It’s a subject where mistakes are celebrated as learning opportunities, fostering resilience and a growth mindset.

In our D&T lessons, children collaborate, share ideas, and support one another, creating a sense of community that enhances their learning experience. I believe that by engaging with D&T, students not only develop practical skills but also gain confidence in their abilities, preparing them for future challenges. Together, we can inspire a generation of innovators and creators, and I am thrilled to be part of their journey!
