PSHE INCLUDING RELATIONSHIPS LEAD

I am Miss Luke and I proudly lead PSHE including Relationships at Heron Cross. I am passionate about supporting children’s personal growth and wellbeing through the teaching of high-quality PSHE lessons and a positive school culture. I believe that PSHE including Relationships provides children with the knowledge they need to develop into confident, responsible and resilient individuals able with the tools to navigate life in modern Britain.

My love for PSHE began when I saw how powerful it was in helping children understand themselves and others. Early in my teaching career, I witnessed pupils grow in confidence simply by having the space to talk, reflect and feel heard. I quickly realised that PSHE wasn’t just a subject — it was a foundation for wellbeing, relationships and lifelong skills. Seeing the positive impact it had on children’s wellbeing is what inspired me to champion it ever since.

At Heron Cross, I believe that a strong PSHE curriculum partnered with a school ethos that promotes the British Values is vital in developing children into resilient, responsible citizens. I aim to create a safe, inclusive learning environment where children feel confident to ask questions, discuss real-life issues and develop resilience. In line with the statutory guidance, my aim is to ensure every child has the chance to learn how to maintain positive relationships, how to stay safe and how to nurture a healthy body and mind.
