SCIENCE LEAD

As the Science Lead, I am passionate about nurturing curiosity and helping children make sense of the world around them. I enjoy creating learning experiences that allow pupils to question, investigate, and discover, and I believe science should feel exciting, relevant, and empowering for every child.

I love science because it encourages us to ask “why?” and “how?” and to explore ideas that stretch our understanding. Science brings together creativity and logic, allowing children to learn through hands-on exploration and real-world problem-solving. Watching pupils light up when they make a new connection or understand a challenging concept is one of the most rewarding parts of teaching.
My vision is to develop confident young scientists who think critically, speak scientifically, and approach unfamiliar problems with curiosity and resilience. I aim to provide a science curriculum that is rich, progressive, and rooted in practical investigation so that pupils don’t just learn scientific facts—they learn how science works.

I want our pupils to:

  • Develop secure scientific knowledge and vocabulary, building a strong foundation in all areas of the curriculum.
  • Work scientifically, learning how to observe closely, ask meaningful questions, carry out fair tests, collect and interpret data, and evaluate results.
  • Recognise the relevance of science in everyday life, the environment, and the wider world, understanding how scientific ideas shape society and inform future careers.
  • Become independent, reflective learners who are confident to attempt new challenges, solve problems, and think creatively.

Above all, I want every child to see themselves as a scientist—capable, inquisitive, and full of potential.
