Wellbeing

At Heron Cross Primary, we offer pastoral support to all our students, ensuring they have access to help whenever it’s needed.

Mrs Pilling, our Pastoral Support Worker, is also an “Excellent ELSA Practitioner” (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant).  She provides one-on-one sessions in a calm, designated safe space where children can relax and engage in tailored activities designed to support their emotional wellbeing.

In addition, Mrs Pilling runs ‘Chill and Chat’ sessions each day in our Library.  These group sessions allow children to unwind, enjoy various activities, and spend time with their friends in a supportive environment.

To ensure children can always reach out, we have set up a post-box system outside the support room.  If a child has any worries or wants to talk, they can drop a note in the box.  We will then check in with them, calling them out of class to offer them time and space to discuss whatever is on their mind.
